About Neuhaus

From its origins as a pharmacy to the renowned workshop of its Master Chocolatiers, the Neuhaus family has always cared deeply about the well-being and happiness of others. In 1857, the first Neuhaus boutique opened its doors in the prestigious Galerie de la Reine in Brussels. Jean Neuhaus practiced an original technique: to the delight of his customers, he coated his "pharmaceutical confections" with a layer of the finest chocolate… In 1912, his grandson was inspired by this idea to create what would become the Belgian praline as we know it today: a chocolate treat with a delicately filled center.

As the inventor of the Belgian praline, Neuhaus aims to set an example in the chocolate market by encouraging innovation and continually imagining new, irresistible products made from natural ingredients.

For more than 160 years – since the opening of the first shop by our founder Jean Neuhaus in the Galerie de la Reine – Neuhaus and Belgium have been a perfect match… Our pralines and truffles are still crafted with the utmost care in Belgium – and we have no intention of changing that!
